Welcome to The Bill Davis ArtWorks website.
William C. (Bill) Davis
Attended Otis Art Institute and California State University at Long Beach majoring in Art and Design.
I began my career in 1971, a couple of months after graduating from high school, designing characters, backgrounds and doing layout drawings for a film entitled "Square Pegs, Round Holes", directed by Dan Bessie at his animation company, The Learning Garden.
As Designer, Director, and Animator as well as President of The Davis Artworks and Artbear Pigmation, I have designed and developed a diverse range of images, characters and animation for Television (PBS, Cable & Broadcast), home video programming, and print, that span the diverse range of ethnic, social, work, age, and ability environments seen in the world today.
The list of clients include: Doubleday, CBS, Sesame Street/Golden Press Books, AT&T, Lancit Media/Reading Rainbow, Children's Television Workshop/Sesame Street, HBO, WGBH/Galaxy Classroom, Nick JR, Slim Goodbody, Cornell University, and the Hip Hop Public Health organization among others.
Beginning in 1999 and interspersed between animation and illustration work, I wrote “Creating 2D Animation in a Small Studio”, a comprehensive, 328 page book exploring the process of creating and producing traditional and digital animation, published by GGC Publishing in 2006.
Though Animation and Illustration have always been my primary mediums, Pottery (yes, capital 'P') was added as a new means of creative expression in August of 2005.
It is my sincerest hope that you enjoy this website and the artwork it contains. I will do my best to keep it up to date.
